This site was developed for children by librarians.For the events section of this research paper, why not try going to the Geography/History links. Then click on American History or World History. You'll find a lot of interesting information here.

This page will send you to many different sites dealing with many topics in American history.

Eyewitness - History Through the Eyes of Those Who Lived It

Once you get to this site, look at the top of the page at the tan bar of links. You may choose to go to the Ancient World, Middle Ages/Renaissance,17th, 18th, 19th, or 20th century, Civil War, Old West, World War I or World War II to read eyewitness accounts from that time period. This is very similar to the type of writing you will be doing for this narrative research project.

Multnomah County Library

When you enter this site, you will see several links under the title "Homework Links".Try connecting to Wars and World History, European History, American History, Ancient and Classical Cutures, or History to find lots of great information for your event or time period in history.

National Geographic - History and Culture

Have some fun here. Travel to King Tut's tomb, try an interactive site during the Salem Witchcraft Trials, learn about Pearl Harbor, the Battle of Midway during World War II, Lewis and Clark's expedition, the Underground Railroad,Mount Everest expeditions, etc.

The Library of Congress - American Memory

If your topic deals with American History, you will find information as well as phtographs, portraits, prints, and even political cartoons at this site. For example, click on Collection (upper right hand corner), then click on History. Look for Images and then Woman Suffrage. Under Woman Suffrage you'll find images, photos, cartoons, and more. This could be very helpful with the descriptive requirements of your narrative.Or go to Search (right hand side of screen). Type in "Titanic" in the search box. You'll get 29 hits including an excerpt from a radio announcement


Magazines and Periodicals

We subscribe to many magazine databases. You will find a great deal of information for your research project by using these databases. Just go to our Glen Meadow Website and click on Periodical DatabasesYou will need user ID numbers and passwords to access these sites. Mrs. Palinski will give you a form with all this information. If you have not received this, please ask the library staff for a copy of it.
